Let's Not Get Used to This Place
2024

Following the iconic Are we here yet? (2010), this publication delves into over a decade of work through reflections, interviews, scores, exercises, and notes on the practice of creating, performing, teaching, and living dance. Let’s Not Get Used to This Place features the words of Meg Stuart alongside voices from one-time and long-time collaborators, observers, and intimate strangers. In this way, the book captures some of the motions, inspirations, and personalities that drive Meg Stuart’s creative cosmos, while also exploring the world around it. Coinciding with the thirtieth anniversary of Damaged Goods, the publication of Let’s Not Get Used to This Place is a fitting celebration of a remarkable legacy.

With contributions by Jean-Marc Adolphe, Márcio Kerber Canabarro, Tim Etchells, Thomas F. DeFrantz, Philipp Gehmacher, Ezra Green, André Lepecki and Eleonora Fabiano, Jeroen Peeters, Gerald Siegmund, Claire Vivianne Sobottke, Maria F. Scaroni, Meg Stuart, Jozef Wouters and many others.

'A caleidoscopic adventure that blurs the lines between work and working and evokes fifteen years of Meg Stuart.' (Etcetera)

'A graphic translation of the work’s elusive character' (Pzazz)

'The most interesting voice in this polyphonic, thoughtfully composed book is Stuart’s own. […] Stuart’s reflections reflect her choreographic practice and stay away from unnecessary theoretic decorations or trendy passwords' (De Witte Raaf)
